I have always drawn and painted since pre schooldays. My first employment was in coal mining then as an engineer, but I looked forward to becoming a full time artist and achieved this in 2000

I use many different media, such as oil, watercolour, charcoal and pastels . I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each medium gives a different interpretation of a subject.

As a self taught artist, my paintings are an eclectic mix, reflecting my studies of diverse techniques and artists. I find some of the impressionist paintings are inspiring and are an influence on my work. Mining and the North East has always been my main inspiration and I enjoy figurative art
